Living & Loving: Eerste reis naar Amsterdam

I finally made it to Amsterdam! For our work residence permits, Amelia and I had to venture into the big city to meet with some immigration lawyers that put all of our paperwork in order. Sadly, since I was still not feeling well, we only made a quick trip so I can rest up for this weekend.

We took the train from Haarlem and it was short 10min ride into the city! The train was fast and super easy (after we found out that you could only pay with coins...14 euros in coins was not fun to come up with!) The fare both ways was 7 euros, not bad at all! The lawyers office was surprisly easy to find on one of the major streets. We made a short stop off to get a passport photo taken for our residence permit and we were on our way back home, all within a couple of hours.

Let me tell you about this passport picture....its terrible! You will not see it included here. Since I still wasnt feeling great today and the Dutch wont let you smile in the picture, you can only imagine the gastly white sickly photo. It will be a close rival to Kristi's passport photo Mom forced her to take while she had Mono! Ha!

Anyway, a great, short trip. Such a busy fun city. Tons of stores and people going everywhere. There are french fry restruants every couple of stores and people all around walk around with the distinct fry filled cones. The Dutch love some fries!

Tomorrow we venture out to Hoolfdroop to offically file the documents for our residence permits. No big plans tonight...just resting up for a fun Amsterdam weekend. Amelia is making homeade potato soup, which smells delicious to get me on the mend and she has also started to SLOWLY (our internet connection that we "borrow" comes in anywhere from about 2 to 11 mbps) download shows! So last night we got to catch up on Private Practice and Brothers and Sisters....its amazing!

There were a TON of bikes at the Amsterdam train station. This picture does not even capture all of them. WOW! You can see in the background a two level bike parking garage!
